We’re thrilled to share the remarkable success of the “International Youth Day” event, expertly orchestrated by the Myanmar Youth Stars Network (MYS) on August 12th, 2023. This exceptional occasion was made possible through a dynamic collaboration with the Myanmar MSM and Transgender Network. Thanks to generous funding from local and international non-governmental organizations, including the support of UN agencies, MYS brought the International Youth Day festivities to life at the Summit Park View Hotel.

The event was further enriched by the active participation of renowned NGOs such as the Phoenix Association, Lan Pya Kyel, and Myanmar Positive Groups. These esteemed organizations contributed by setting up engaging booths and organizing captivating activities. Participants had the chance to win exciting prizes through interactive lucky draws centered around questions related to HIV, SRHR, and various youth-centric topics.

Distinguished representatives from UNAIDS graced the occasion, delivering an inspiring opening speech. Their words resonated with the MYS team, encouraging them to continue their invaluable work as a national-level network dedicated to addressing youth-centric issues. The Director of Epic Project Myanmar from FHI 360 also took the stage, offering a commendatory speech that applauded MYS’s collaborative efforts in implementing a significant HIV project.

The event was a true showcase of unity, gratitude, and engagement. The Chairperson of MYS expressed heartfelt gratitude in a moving speech, acknowledging the collective effort that made the event possible. The day unfolded with a rich array of activities, including MYS’s vox pop question session, powerful dance performances spotlighting the stigma and discrimination faced by People Living with HIV (PLHIV), thought-provoking role plays, and insightful panel discussions.

Adding a touch of star power to the event, celebrated figures like Nay Min Eain and Lain Maw Thee graced the stage with their melodious voices, treating attendees to unforgettable musical performances.
